I actually doubt they'll create a new engine for a few installments in to the next generation of consoles. The first game will most likely be released for both the current and next generation consoles in order to attain the highest possible sales figures possible...

Do you understand what they mean by "overhaul"? I think you've interpreted it as meaning reboot. The "Vegas" titles are over, "Patriots" is the next title and seems to be implementing a huge catalogue of improvements and new gameplay mechanics...
Intriguing, well the issue will be droppin roughly two weeks prior to E3 2012 so I'd hazard a guess at stating the game won't be an exclusive title to a particular console. Also, due to the utilisation of the smoke grenade, I'd guess that the game is going to have some sort of military theme.
If it's just exclusive info on a game I'd say Rainbow Six Patriots due to it's tactical gameplay.

The fact you have any agrees exhibits the state in which this site is in. I would ask on what basis you have made such a judgement, but my impression is that you haven't played a single installment in the franchise.
On topic, having participated in the beta I would agree that the game is more reminiscent of Star Wars Battlefront than the Halo franchise...
Until I see in-game footage I'm going to presume it wasn't a risky move, if the game itself still has the same milked gameplay, with little innovation, then Treyarch in a way are playing it safe, drastically changing the setting as a method of tricking people into making presumptions that the gameplay itself is different. I wonder if Activision will try to continue their milking of the dated engine when we hit next gen...?

You obviously don't have a 360 if you aren't mentioning Gears of War or Halo. How about Killzone and Resistance... And being third-person is hardly a negative when practically every game that releases now is an FPS.

Can't wait for E3 2012 to begin, so many games to be revealed and demonstrated and GameTrailers/Spikes coverage is always well executed (last year I watched a number of Press Conferences Live, Clear as day on my iPhone 4). Also, E3 kicks off a matter of days after I finish College and begin my summer holidays before starting University in September, great start to June (along with Prometheus).
How so? The gameplay is evidently immensely similar to that of the single-player portion.
Black Ops' story (in my opinion) was atrocious, it copied entire scenes from films (the Russian Roullette scene was essentially the same scene as that found in The Deer Hunter) and the twist was taken directly from Fight Club. Gary Oldman did a good job as Reznov but Sam Worthington was a terrible voice actor.

You would really want a fourth Uncharted to be announced for this gen? I feel as though Uncharted would benefit from the release of a new console as the leap from the original to the second majorly outweighed the leap from the second to the third.
Not necessarily, look at the progression in technological achievement in videogames in the past year alone, I don't think we NEED a new Playstation as much as we need a new Nintendo console, let's be honest, from what we've seen the WiiU is just catching up to the 360 and PS3...

Hopefully we'll get a demonstration of "Rainbow Six Patriots" at E3, I for one love the "Rainbow Six" franchise and am hugely anticipating this installment's release.
